What is ‘strumming and drumming’? DMV-based duos featuring some of the region’s best singing guitarists together with light hand percussion by Philippe de Pontet. The duos, which are gigging widely in the region, plan to keep growing in 2025 and beyond, bringing their energetic and soulful take on favorite covers in genres spanning rock, country, soul, pop, funk and jazz.
Our sound: fun-spirited, rhythmic, audience-friendly We put together fun-spirited shows. We are not as loud (or costly) as bands on one hand, and we're more dynamic and rhythmic than singer-songwriters on the other. We have found that the added groove of hand percussion in each of these duos is a ‘special sauce’ for audiences, making for a unique, toe-tapping sound.
We have proved the ‘strummin' & drummin' concept in over 35 gigs so far this year and last, many repeating, to enthusiastic audiences and venues across the DMV. Mark Siegle, the General Manager at Water's End Brewery said. “Our patrons really like the duo. It was one of our best nights of the year. Where do we Play? In the four duos, we have played in wineries, breweries, bars, restaurants, private parties/corporate events across the DMV. Our versatile sound, easygoing vibe and covers-based repertoires are a good fit for most of these venues. While we generally play within an hour or so of DC, we will happily go beyond that radius for a good opportunity, such as at a winery or corporate event.
